Mother's Day

Some folks are very careful in how they dress for an occasion. Costuming can be important, but I've found the appropriate soundtrack can be an essential accessory as well, however inadvertently.
So, we were off to the Mother's Day brunch at our sister-in-law's. I had wanted to wear the nifty blouse I'd found at the thrift store with the professora & shock the in-laws by appearing in a non-t-shirt, but torrential downpours prevented. [If I'm getting drenched, it's not in a new blouse that might turn my skin bright blue.]
I do actually *try* to listen to all the cool stuff I find, & brought along a pile of cds for the trip across town. [All the in-laws are on the far north side of town. One advantage to having them think we live in a slum far away means we never have to host gatherings, just drive an hour or so each way to them.] Having finished the John McCutcheon seasonal cd, something different was desired. John Lithgow's cd "Singin' In The Bathtub" was next.
The very first song, "Everybody Eats When They Come To My House," was certainly apt for a family brunch. Further along in the cd was the apogee of to-the-purpose, "No One Loves You Any Better Than Your M-O-Double-M-Y." I'm admittedly easily amused, but that was a hoot, as much from the song itself as the timing of it.
Another musically apt adventure was driving through Zion National Park, listening to the Johnny Cash cd "America" we'd found at the thrift store in Flagstaff the night before.
What musically apt adventures have y'all been getting up to?

Date: 2012-05-16 10:25 pm (UTC)I keep thinking, oh, I'll listen to some of it on my road trip coming up (would rather not discuss dates ahead of time on a public forum), but then I realize it's all mp3 files, which I have no way to listen to in my car [sigh].
