When my grandma was 33, she had a hysterectomy. When I was young, my mom had an ovarian growth the size o a grapefruit. They put her on the pill, & it eventually went away.

My mom had a grapefruit, & I had a grape--an endometrial polyp that was removed Tuesday [hence the "upstaging" comment alluded to previously]. I posted the teaser sentence under the influence of some rather strong drugs [& some rather strong curiosity to see what would happen]. The drugs funked me up pretty well for a couple of days, so we're neither going there nor doing that. If I'm trashing out my liver with acetaminophen, I'll do it with the straight stuff, not with extra added, thanks. [Much as I like it, I can't do ibuprofen; it goofs with the arthritis meds.]

If not up to full speed yet, at least I'm not sleeping the day away; I'm just getting further behind on LJ. ;( It's probably at least 8 days or so now, but I'll eventually get somewhat caught up, 'cause I'm all persistent like that.

I have about decided (given my own recent experiences) that the only thing prescription painkillers are good for is putting you to sleep. Which I suppose achieves the goal -- I mean, if you're asleep you can't feel the pain, right?

On top of that, they can stop up your digestive works, which I wasn't told ahead of time.

So I sympathize. And am really, really glad you're feeling better. Keep it up, kiddo!

I wasn't told either. By the time I thought to look up the side-effects [the next day], it was Too Late. Let's just say, eating bran flakes, popcorn, getting sloshed, and labors of Hercules were required to Fix Things. I was afraid I'd hurt something. Needless to say, we've declared a never-moratorium on *that* particular med!

Well, if I'm up for vituperation [with all 5 vowels], I must be better than feared. [although nowhere near where I'd like--sound familiar? ;(]

(wry g) Oh, I sympathize. One time back when we were married, my first husband ended up in the emergency room to (his words) "give birth to a bouncing baby (deleted)." It took almost as long, too.

Afaik, I kept everything. The polyp was doing something improbable in Uterusville [to the tune of "Margaritaville"].

You have to be tough to be sick, you know. It's not for wimps! But it looks like you are coming out the other side okay, and that's excellent news!
