filkferengiBack in 2000, Lois McMaster Bujold was a guest at Hispacon, in Spain. The con put up a website with lots of fun pictures. The coolest picture showed Lois being stalked by a life-size Alien critter [either a masquerade winner or very large statue]. The picture with the coolest caption showed Lois holding under her arm what looked like a miniature bagpipe. The caption said something about how she was unafraid of torturing the cat.
Torturing the cat? What a wonderful idea! Our cat likes to wake us up far too early in the morning. Meg has the theory that, if we keep her up, she won't keep us up. When the cat takes naps on the bed with me in the morning, I often wait until she's completely relaxed & blissed out, then I pet her a lot. I pet her every 15-20 minutes thereafter, making sure that she can't get restful sleep [turnabout being fair play, after all], but still, since I'm one of those magic fingers people, she has a good time. She mrows protestingly, but still purrs a lot. Tee hee hee.
