The Meat of the Matter

Today being Mother's Day, we took my parents out for lunch to the buffet. [Himself's sister being out of town, *that* summons is for next weekend.] Various eating strategies were employed. My poor mom was disappointed that they didn't have liver to go with the onions & had to console herself with turnip greens ["lawn trimmings!" exclaims my dad derisively], fried okra, & other such Southern dishes.

My dad went through his chicken faster than the vulture at the RenFaire so he could go outside & smoke. [Everyone in my family who has ever spawned smokes; talk about your effective incentive for birth control. ;(] I filled up on vegetables, because a) I like them better, b) there are so many different kinds, and c) it leaves more room for dessert. :)

Himself said he went for lots of meat, contrary to his usual custom. "I guess my inner carnivore came out."

"Does that mean you carnivorted all around the buffet?" I replied, just because I'm evil like that.
