This led to my using Google to learn about what Kristine Kathryn Rush has written as Kristine Grayson. Do you think that something like “Tiffany Tumbles” would be suitable for my now ten year old niece in a couple of years?

I enjoyed the Interim Fates trilogy, but it's an offshoot of a romance series. Read them for yourself, & see what you think, I'd be more inclined to start with Megan Whalen Turner's _The Thief_, some Andre Norton [she has books for all ages], or some such. What tv shows does she like? Maybe there's something similar or related thereto. Does she like ghost stories? How about mythology? 398.2 is a wonderful resource. How about the D'Aulaire books? Fabulous artwork! Collections or anthologies of short stories might be more digestible than whole novels.
