Of course [she replied complacently]. The catch was, it was the summer of 1980, with record temperatures [in the wrong direction!], & we were at North Georgia College in Dahlonega [*much* better than being down in Valdosta < shudder >]. I was on the 4th floor with no air-conditioning & used to take my laundry bag [named "Bowser" for the purpose] for a walk down 6 flights to the sub-basement every week. North Georgia is famous for chicken houses, so we ate lots of "mystery meat" that summer. It was also the first time I tried chocolate eclairs; for years thereafter, I thought they were supposed to be all melted & goopy [but still good].
It was a blast, though. I learned lots of French songs [including some drinking ones, which joyeuse13 probably knows too], took an art class, acted in a play, joined the chorus, had a plaster cast made of my face [which I still have], kept some of a journal, &, following the advice of my French teacher, met some interesting fellows.
Thanks for asking & bringing back some fun memories.
