you've entertained me, but then again, i'm on vicodin...
julia spencer-fleming came to the poisoned pen bookstore in scottsdale last week, before alec got sick, to sign her new book. she is very charming. sf came with denise hamilton, a former L.A. times reporter, who was signing her new book, the last lullaby. i enjoyed her so much that i bought her book and got it signed, too. already devoured. i will get the earlier two by hamilton, as well.
what was way cool for us and embarrassing for the greater phoenix area was that the only people in attendance were a fiction writing teacher and her @ 7 students - and frank and me. so i got to ask a number of fun questions about character development methods, etc. it was like sitting at a small seminar discussion.
i hope you enjoy spencer-fleming's books...i love her complex characters, the topical issues she raises, and how she weaves the plots. there's a lot of humor found in the inner monologues, and i now hear clare fergusson's grandmother's admonishments in my head...let me know how you like the books.
