Goodies from Confluence
Aug. 6th, 2012 08:33 amSpeaking of rocking out, let's talk about some of the many musical pleasures of Confluence. Papa Dante teaches us that life is the juxtaposition of opposites. A new discovery was the expressive basso growlings of Jonah Knight [www.JonahOfTheSea.com].
A familiar delight was Cat Faber's concert, putting out her new album, "The King's Lute." I always describe hers as poundcake music, dense, rich, and slightly sweet. It's the kind of lilt that tickles the back of the throat, inducing the genial delusion that I could actually hit some of those notes. A variety of ideas, harmoniously expressed: fun!
I keep mentioning bandcamp to everyone, because it affords [;)] the opportunity of giving the artist extra cash. Her site for downloads & cds there is: catfaber.bandcamp.com. Songbooks are at www.hwaet.org/CatPDFs/Songbook.html .
