All This, & Cool Music Too
May. 3rd, 2004 03:38 pmI missed the housefilk last month, because it was 2-for-1 weekend at the local Renaissance Festival, & you know we're all about the discounts. ;) After 6-8 hours of fun & soaking up sun, there was no way I was going to drive an hour back to my house, then another hour & some to a housefilk I'd be too exhausted to enjoy. It's too bad; some folks I would've liked to've seen showed up.
But the folks I usually carpool with couldn't make it either; Carla Ulbrich was in town, & they took his dad to go see her. If we'd had the energy, it would've been fun, but we've seen Carla before. The secret to getting Himself to enjoy as much filk as he does is controlled, limited doses of only the best--& not after a long day at the RenFair. Everybody had fun, just in widely divergent parts of town.
The point of the digression being, that the carpooling couple had graciously agreed to pick me up some cds by Deirdre Flint, the other performer. I got a call today; he'd like to drop them off before absconding to Scandinavia for a well-deserved vacation. So, I'll be visited by a handsome man I'm not even married to [well, not bad for a tall, skinny blond, anyway], & there'll be cds & socializing. If Himself ever answers the phone, we might even be able to work out something for dinner [& you know, we hobbit-types are all about the dinner ;)].
Of course, it's mailout week, so my poor masculine half may be a bit swamped [& I won't--reason enough to rejoice, especially since the hands & feet are getting better, but aren't quite there yet]. Not that there's any need to feel "sympathy for the devil"; a wife who's got the wrestling all set to tape & scavenges cool baseball shows is no bad thing to come home to.
We'll have to miss the housefilk this month, too; we'll be at Balticon, for baseball [for the taller part of us] & Bujold partying & filking [for the sensible part of us]. Do you remember in Trivial Pursuit, the intersection between the spoke and the wheel, where all the questions are the same color? This is sort of like that: either I have fun, or I have fun, or I have fun. That's the kind of dilemma I can live with--very well indeed. :)
