Rites of Spring

It's almost time for the annual sacred ritual of Spring: baseball! Chaucer has nothing on my husband for going "on pilgrimagen" to spring training. Each year, for over a week, he does hiking and baseball. Each year, I do binge-reading and occasional walks. One year he called, exclaiming in glee, "I've been to 7 games!" I replied, with equal glee, "I've read 7 books!"

I think it was the Liaden re-read that year. Then there was the Peltedverse year, the Ice Planet Barbarians year, the Shelly Laurenston year, the Pratchett year, the Tamora Pierce year...so many delightful memories.

Speaking of Liaden, Sharon Lee was recently announced as the 2025 Heinlein Award winner and will be at Balticon end of May (https://www.balticon.org/goh/sharon-lee).

Sheryl and I are baseball fans though not as devoted as your husband. Made it to a spring training game once when a visit to my dad and stepmom in southern Florida happened to coincide. Haven't been to much in the way of regular season games lately except one Cubs game I went to with Bill Roper while I was in the Chicago area on business travel.

Although the timing could definitely have been better [or earlier], we're very excited about Sharon's award.

I'd recommend the MLB package for your baseball delectation, but, with all y'all have going on, suspect you wouldn't have enough time for it.
