I enjoyed the Interim Fates trilogy, but it's an offshoot of a romance series. Read them for yourself, & see what you think, I'd be more inclined to start with Megan Whalen Turner's _The Thief_, some Andre Norton [she has books for all ages], or some such. What tv shows does she like? Maybe there's something similar or related thereto. Does she like ghost stories? How about mythology? 398.2 is a wonderful resource. How about the D'Aulaire books? Fabulous artwork! Collections or anthologies of short stories might be more digestible than whole novels.
