Wearing Black

Over on the main Bujold list, there's been the most fascinating discussion the last few days, mostly about wearing black [or not].

For some, it brought to mind female blood, which brought to mind the understated, matter-of-fact way Lois handled Fawn's miscarriage in the first Sharing Knife book and the scene in the second when Fawn uses a typically feminine product in an unconventional way. The male healer's assistant asks the female healer if she knows what it is--priceless!

What I first thought of, however, was Leslie Fish's song, so here it is, to share the love. It's both a fashion statement and one of her post-apocalyptic teaching songs.
